Painters of the Flinders Ranges

Biography

Susan Peter

My first real experience of the Flinders Ranges was walking the Heysen Trail from Parachilna Gorge to Hawker in 1994. This was the beginning of a fascination with the Ranges and many camping and painting trips from the Southern to the Northern Flinders trying to capture the spirit of its rugged landscape and its inhabitants in oil, acrylic and pastel.

In 1998 I moved to Port Noarlunga South from the Mid North of SA and although my work has developed coastal themes, at the same time my regualr painting trips to the Flinders Ranges have continued to provide inspiration for many drawings and paintings.

In 2008 I was asked to become a member of the Painters of the Flinders Ranges. I am also: Associate Member f the Royal South Australian Society of Arts; Pastel Artists of South Australia (PASA) - Newsletter Editor in 2005 and 2006; Off the Slate Gallery (Founding Member) - Secretary in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
